American National Bank of Texas Promotes Steve White to Chief Strategy Officer As Expansion in Dallas Market Continues

White will draw on nearly two decades of banking leadership to diversify ANBTX’s commercial banking services and deepen its presence in Dallas

American National Bank of Texas (ANBTX), one of the oldest and largest, independently owned community banks in Texas with more than $5.5 billion in assets, has promoted Steve White to chief strategy officer. The promotion recognizes White’s two decades of banking leadership with ANBTX, and it comes as the bank is celebrating its 150th year of serving the North Texas market.

In this new capacity, White will continue to oversee ANBTX’s commercial banking division, which includes more than 40 commercial and community bankers. In addition, he will play a key role in developing and implementing the bank’s five-year strategic plan, which is designed to deepen ANBTX’s presence in the Dallas market and broader North Texas region as well as drive alignment across the organization.

“Our independence, our roots in North Texas and our ability to make decisions locally have always set ANBTX apart,” said Robert Hulsey, president and CEO of ANBTX. “Steve has a deep understanding of our customers, culture, employees and our communities. And as part of the family that started this bank generations ago, his leadership will ensure that our team is positioned for sustainable, relationship-driven growth for years to come.”

Additionally, as chief strategy officer, White will lead the bank’s diversification of its commercial banking services to include more commercial and industrial lending capabilities to supplement its historically strong real estate lending model and balance the bank’s portfolio with more small- to medium-sized business relationships. To support these diversification efforts, the bank plans to grow its commercial banking teams in both the Dallas and Frisco markets.

“North Texas businesses deserve a banking partner that knows them, knows the market and can make quick decisions in our back yard. We want to support the long-term growth of local businesses and the communities where we live and work across North Texas.” White said. “Our strategic plan reflects exactly that. I’m incredibly proud to continue my family’s legacy and be a part of steering ANBTX through this exciting next chapter and ensuring we continue serving as the independent bank our customers trust.”

White joined ANBTX in January 2006 serving as the banking center president of ANBTX’s Dallas location and then began leading the bank’s commercial banking team. Outside of ANBTX, White is very involved in the North Texas community as a member of The Salesmanship Club of Dallas, Mercy Street Dallas, Momentous Institute Reading Buddies, Highland Park Presbyterian Church, the Board of Governors at Brook Hollow Golf Club and Stemmons Corridor Business Association.
